Responsibilities

  • The post holders will play an integral role working in the multi-disciplinary team in our award-winning Cancer Centre of excellence.
  • The post holder will work with the team of 7 Consultant Gynaecological Oncologists, 3 sub-specialty fellows, 1 research clinical fellow and 7 junior clinical fellows including this post.
  • The post holders will actively contribute to the on-going research in the department.
  • Surgical gynaecological oncology inpatients are managed on the surgical ward.
  • There are 7-8 all day operating lists 4 days a week (3 x 2 parallel list, 1 x alternate parallel/single list).
  • Many cases are operated on laparoscopically and robotically which facilitates rapid patient turnover.
  • We also perform ultra-radical ovarian cancer surgery.
  • The inpatient service is supported by dedicated ward staff with expertise in gynaecological oncology nursing and physiotherapy as well as a team of clinical nurse specialists.
  • The post-holders will be expected to liaise with the Medical, Clinical Oncology and Palliative Medicine teams.
