What is the duration of the contract for the Trust Doctor position?
The position is a Fixed Term contract.
What are the working hours for this role?
This is a full-time post with participation in the medicine on-call rota.
What is the current on-call rota schedule?
The on-call rota is currently on a 1 in 17 basis with 2 core level equivalent doctors on-call for day or night shifts.
Where are the Cardiology and Respiratory Services based?
The Cardiology and Respiratory Services are based at Calderdale Hospital.
Are there opportunities to work in other specialties besides Cardiology and Respiratory?
Yes, there are opportunities to work in Gastroenterology as well.
Will I have the chance to rotate into other specialties?
Yes, staff contracted for more than 6 months will routinely rotate into other specialties.
What kind of training and teaching opportunities are available?
There are weekly Medical Grand rounds, journal clubs, and Core medical teaching sessions. There is also training for non-technical skills such as handover and communication skills.
Does the Trust provide support for obtaining professional qualifications?
Yes, the Trust encourages and supports doctors obtaining their membership and preparing for MRCP and PACES.
What facilities are available for clinical skills training?
The Trust has a well-equipped Clinical Skills Training Room with simulation mannequins for procedures such as chest drain insertion and central venous cannulation.
