What is the duration of the Trust Doctor position for the Older Persons Unit?
The position is for a fixed term of up to 6 months, ending on 31st July 2026, but may be subject to extension.
What are the working hours for this role?
The working hours are standard days from Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week, between 08:00 to 18:00.
Is there a requirement for weekend work?
Yes, there may be a weekend working requirement of 1:4, depending on service needs.
What qualifications are necessary for this Trust Doctor position?
Essential qualifications include MBChB, MBBS, or equivalent. Desirable qualifications include MRCP or equivalent.
What kind of experience is required for applicants?
Essential experience includes inpatient geriatric medicine and working in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and discharge planning. Desirable experience includes completion of CMT training or equivalent and extensive experience in geriatric medicine.
What clinical skills should candidates possess?
Candidates should have the ability to assess acutely unwell frail older people, initiate appropriate management plans, and possess strong communication skills with older patients and their families.
Are there any specific practical procedures expected to be performed by applicants?
Desirable skills include the ability to perform practical procedures independently, such as lumbar puncture, and the ability to perform the Epley test or Hall Pike manoeuvre.
